Shorter Rounds On The HCG Diet?

by Stephanie

I get the question about doing a shorter round of the HCG diet all the time. People with only 10-15 pounds to lose don’t necessarily need to do one of the standard 26-40 day rounds.

So can you still do the diet if you don’t have that much weight to lose? And what is the HCG diet plan for those shorter rounds?

Well to start off, yes, you can a shorter round no problem. I’ve heard from purist that a 26 day round is the shortest you should ever go. But I whole-heartedly disagree. First off, I’ve done shorter rounds, and I’ve never seen any issues with anyone doing a shorter round in the couple years I’ve been helping people with the diet.

So yes, you can do a shorter round.

If you have, say, 10 pounds to lose what you should do is plan on about 20 days of the diet. So get enough HCG to last you at least 20 days. People who have a lot more weight to lose will lose 10 pounds in a week or so, but when you are so close to your goal weight you tend to lose a bit slower and it’s nice to plan ahead and not get caught without enough HCG.

Then just start your round as you would any round, do the 2 loading days, then on the third day you start the low calorie phase. Keep going on this phase until you reach the end of your round or you reach your goal weight. If you hit your goal weight on say day 15, then stop the drops on that day, do 3 days of the diet without taking the HCG drops to make sure it’s out of your system, then jump into the maintenance phase.

Once you are in maintenance you should still do the 3 weeks of maintenance. Yes, do 3 whole weeks even though you did a shorter round. You need to give yourself time to set that weight point so you don’t go back to your old weight. There is no point in losing weight if you don’t keep it off, so take maintenance phase seriously.

Now if you have say 5 pounds to lose, that’s probably not enough weight to go to the trouble of starting the diet. I did a round to lose 7 pounds but already had left over HCG from my first round so I used it up. But I don’t think I’d go buy more if I only had 5 or so pounds to lose.

One thing I do want to warn you about is don’t compare yourself to others while on the diet. Especially if you are so close to your goal weight. As I mentioned earlier, the closer you are to your goal the slower your weight loss will be. But that’s normal so just be aware of it. Also realize that you will get to your goal weight as long as you keep going and don’t quit. Quitting won’t get you to your weight loss goals. So just keep going until you hit that end result you are looking for.

This is helpful. So is it- ok to do a couple of rounds- of p2 for 2 weeks as long as I do p3 for the full 3 weeks ? -Someone told me that you HAVE to do 3 weeks of p2 for the hypothalmus to reset. Whats your opinion? Thanks Terri

Depends on how long your round is. I noticed you commented on another article and said you only did 14 days on the diet. In that case 2 weeks of maintenance is OK. but in most cases you should do 3 weeks.

What are the restrictions for the maintence stage?

No sugar or starches. There are a few other nuisances but talk with your provider about that.

So are you saying I can go over 500 calories a day. I am eating correct proportions but seem to be hitting 550 to 650 calories a day.. Im only in this to lose 15 pounds and Ive lost 7. I get honey sometimes and eat an extra melba toast honestly

You shouldn’t be counting calories at all. Just eating the food from the list in the right amounts. So follow the instructions and don’t count calories. Counting calories is useless.

Hi there. I have done two rounds, followed protocol and maintenance to the letter. R1 18 pounds, R2 22 pounds making 40 in total. I have maintained now for 6 weeks. I would like to lose 6 pounds more and have some leftover drops. Judging by your comments I think I would be successful to do a shorter round and then get right back on maintenance. Any suggestions?

Great job! It’s refreshing to see someone who following the instructions and just got did what needed to be done. So again, great job. And yes, you can do a shorter round, just do 3 days of the diet without HCG after your HCG runs out, then do maintenance again for 3 weeks.
